General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has fired a salvo at party stalwart, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku describing him as a mole in the party.
According to Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, the two-time failed presidential aspirant to the NPP is lobbying the Mahama-led government for a position.
Dr. Apraku has incurred the wrath of some party members after challenging delegates to choose a candidate who appeals to Ghanaians ahead of its delegate congress in March 2014.
He said the NPP lost the 2008 and 2012 election because its candidate was not appealing to the larger populace.
But loyalists to the party’s 2012 presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo have launched a scathing attack on Dr. Apraku accusing him of running down Nana Akufo-Addo.
Speaking on an Accra based radio station Ok FM Friday; Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie said he is not surprised about Dr. Apraku’s conduct because he always wants to reap where he did not sow.
He intimated that Dr. Apraku now wines and dines with the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) after the NPP lost the election petition.
Sir John as he is popularly called added that the ambitious presidential hopeful [Apraku] is scheming to make Akufo-Addo unpopular in order to pave the way for him to run for the party’s flagbearership position.
He recalled how Dr. Apraku prior to the election petition was lobbying Nana Akufo-Addo for either a Trade Minister or a Energy Minister when the party wins the case but has “now become an enemy within because we lost the court case”.
Sir John said they know Dr. Apraku is lobbying for a position in government because members of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) have exposed him.
