The process has begun for the National Lottery Authority to have its own courts.
The move is aimed at speeding up the prosecution of illegal lotto operators.
The Chief Justice has given the green light for the lotto courts to be set up.
The NLA is losing thousands of Ghana Cedis to the illegal lotto operators.
Head of Corporate Planning and Sales at the NLA, Shine Kplorlali Gbologa told XYZ BUSINESS “we are also trying to enforce we organize swoops in conjunction with the police we arrest and then we try to prosecute…prosecution has been the weakest link in the activities that we try to implement but recently the Ministry of Justice through the Chief Justice has given us what they call a ‘fiat’ which allows the authority to prosecute its own cases you can call them lotto courts.”
Mr Kplolali Gbologa adds the move will help reduce the activities of illegal lotto operators popularly called banker to banker.
