Many people probably have known this for some time, women are actually smarter than men.
The battle of the sexes has a new twist with psychologists revealing that IQ scores of women have risen above men for the first time in a century.
Women were five points behind men since testing began a century ago, but that gap has narrowed in recent years.
This year, the weaker sex has finally reached the top. The reason may be that women can perform several tasks at once, psychologists said. The progress has been discovered by James Flynn, the world-renowned authority on intelligence tests.
“In the last 100 years the IQs of both men and women have increased, but women have risen faster. This is a consequence of modernity,” said Flynn.
“The complexity of the modern world is causing our brains to adapt and raise our IQ. The full effect of modernity on women is just emerging,” he said.
“One theory is the ability of women to perform many tasks at once, to juggle a family and go to work, while another explanation is that they are realizing they have a slightly greater intelligence potential than men,” he said.
Flynn published his findings in a new book, but said more data was needed to explain the trend because tests have shown differences between gender and race.
