TWO PERSONS have been nabbed by the police for allegedly stealing a turkey at Asokore Zongo, near Effiduase in the Ashanti Region.
The suspects were identified as Osei Bonsu Frank, 20, and an 18-year-old, Akwasi Antwi.
They were arrested on Friday after they secretly entered one Saeed Abubakar’s house at Asokore Zongo to steal a turkey.
The two suspects were given severe beatings after their arrest by people in the area before they were handed over to the police.
Briefing DAILY GUIDE, Apau Marfo, a reporter of Kessben FM, who was at the scene, said Abubakar rears turkey in his house at Asokore Zongo.
On Friday afternoon, Abubakar who is a staunch Muslim left the house to the Mosque for Friday prayers.
The two suspects took advantage of Abubakar’s absence and secretly entered his house to steal the turkey.
When Abubakar returned from prayers, he realized that one of his turkeys was missing so he started searching for it.
Abubakar during the search heard a strange noise coming from a nearby bush close to his house.
He then became suspicious so he called other people to accompany him to the bush to verify what was hiding there.
To Abubakar’s surprise, he saw Antwi hiding in the thick bush with his missing turkey.
But before Abubakar could grab Antwi, the suspected thief took to his heels and fled the scene.
Abubakar and his men then gave Antwi a hot chase and the pursuers finally managed to grab the suspect.
Antwi after his arrest then led Abubakar and his men to the hiding place of his accomplice, Osei Bonsu Frank.
The two suspects were allegedly given a sound beating by Abubakar and his men who later sent them to the police station.
Antwi and Frank were looking weak due to the beating so the police ordered that they should be taken to hospital for medication.
The suspects were later taken back to the police station where their statements were taken after which they were detained.
